Pinecone Project programs aim to show participants that everything they need for success is already within them. Each program offers opportunities to learn about the world around us through hands on learning, skill building, and metacognitive reflection.
This summer we're offering a variety of design thinking and STEM enrichment experiences for youth ages 8-18. Students have the opportunity to develop important transferable math skills, to design and build components of sustainable neighbourhoods, and to become familiar with concepts in geospatial analysis.
A brief description of our programs is listed below, with further details found here.
Intended for students who'd like a refresher of grade 10 or 11 topics, this program will review concepts that are common to both grade levels and build crucial skills and confidence in topics relating to quadratics, trigonometry, and essential number sense skills.
July 6-10, Grades 10-11
Join us this summer as we design and create a model for a sustainable city! Each day students will participate in design challenges that center around different components of a neighbourhood. They'll leave the program with a strong understanding of the design cycle as well as a handful of ideas for creating eco-friendly communities.
July 13-17, Grades 4-8
In this program campers will learn how to apply familiar concepts to solving unfamiliar problems. Those "thinking" questions on your math test? You'll learn how to solve those like a pro, plus learn how to apply problem solving strategies to tricky problems outside of the classroom.
July 13-17, Grades 10-11
July 20-24, Grades 5-7
Observe, connect, analyze, and synthesize! This program offers an opportunity to explore the applications of geography beyond the confines of the classroom. Campers will be introduced to foundational geospatial concepts that will not only strengthen their existing knowledge, but may pique their interest in a career in the rapidly growing field of Geographic Analysis.
July 27-31, Grades 4-8
Sharpen your skills and become confident in working with fractions, remembering BEDMAS (every time!), solving equations, and other crucial skills that will show up throughout your high school math career. Based on the skills that math teachers see students struggle with the most, this program aims to arm students heading to high school with the fundamentals needed for success.
July 27-31, Grades 7-12
There are two ways to register for Pinecone Project summer programs, including before and after care.
Simply hit one of the buttons or the link above to be taken to our secure online registration site. Online credit card processing will be done via Stripe. More information about Stripe's security can be found here.
2) Separate registration and payment
If you'd like to avoid paying with credit card, you can provide us with all of the registration information needed here, then send an e-transfer to email@example.com for the full amount of all camp fees. We'll send an email once we've received both parts to confirm your registration.
All notifications of cancellation must be received by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may cancel up to 14 days prior to the program start date to receive a full refund, less a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations received later than 14 days prior to program start will not be eligible for a refund. Should you be able to attend a different program in our current season, we would be happy to accommodate you if space is available. There are no refunds for partial attendance, missed program days, or not completing the program. In the case of serious illness, please contact us to provide documentation. We cannot be responsible for other travel or accommodation expenses. Note that it may take 2 to 4 weeks for refunds to be processed.
Should the Pinecone Project find it necessary to cancel a program, a full refund of registration fees will be granted. Notification of a cancellation will be made by email. Please be sure to provide an email address you monitor often.
