Eco-Cities After School Program

Ready to think, solve, and create?

Join us this winter!  Throughout Eco-Cities after school program, students will work towards designing different components of an eco-friendly, urban neighbourhood. Each week they'll participate in hands-on challenges that will see them building their skills in creative thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. By the end of the program each challenge will come together to create a sustainable neighbourhood that can support a healthy community and planet! Your child might even bring home a few ideas for how to create positive change in your neighbourhood right away. 


Key topics include:

  • The design cycle and the importance of iteration
  • How to design with equity and sustainability in mind
  • Considering the needs of, and working with, stakeholders
  • Enabling plants, animals, and humans to coexist and thrive in the same spaces
  • What your design process can say about you!


Sample activities:

  • Design a public transit system for a growing community
  • Design and build a playground or public park with accessibility in mind
  • Energy efficient building design challenge
  • Create a prototypes for bridges or through ways that allow humans and animals to share roadways

Refund Policy

 All notifications of cancellation must be received by email at connect@pineconeproject.ca .


You may cancel up to 14 days prior to the program start date to receive a full refund, less a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations received later than 14 days prior to program start will not be eligible for a refund. Should you be able to attend a different program in our current season, we would be happy to accommodate you if space is available. There are no refunds for partial attendance, missed program days, or not completing the program. In the case of serious illness, please contact us to provide documentation.  We cannot be responsible for other travel or accommodation expenses. Note that it may take 2 to 4 weeks for refunds to be processed.    


Should the Pincone Project find it necessary to cancel a program, a full refund of registration fees will be granted. Notification of a cancellation will be made by email. Please be sure to provide an email address you monitor often.
