Eco-Cities Summer camp

Ready to think, solve, and create?

Join us this summer!  Throughout Eco-Cities after school program, students will work towards designing different components of an eco-friendly, urban neighbourhood. Each day they'll participate in hands-on challenges that will see them building their skills in creative thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. By the end of the program each challenge will come together to create a sustainable neighbourhood that can support a healthy community and planet! Your child might even bring home a few ideas for how to create positive change in your neighbourhood right away.

Key topics include:

  • The design cycle and the importance of iteration
  • How to design with equity and sustainability in mind
  • Considering the needs of, and working with, stakeholders
  • Enabling plants, animals, and humans to coexist and thrive in the same spaces
  • What your design process can say about you!

Sample activities:

  • Design a public transit system for a growing community
  • Design and build a playground or public park with accessibility in mind
  • Energy efficient building design challenge
  • Create a prototypes for bridges or through ways that allow humans and animals to share roadways
